From 2009 Audi changed instrument clusters based on Micronas processor software. If you try to program these dashboards like older tacho (for ex. with Digiprog or Tacho universal like A3 2006+ DIAG) dashboard can be damaged. After programming instrument cluster will be compleatly  dead - also car engine not starting (immobiliser is in dashboard). Now with CarProg you can repair it by OBDII.
